Ramadān is fast approaching and many times it can be very overwhelming thinking about all we need to do so here’s a compilation of things that should help you breathe easier inshā’Allāh.
1) Start by making a good intention to prepare yourself for this Ramadān.
Umar رضي الله عنه narrated that he heard the Prophet ﷺ said, “The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions & every person will get the reward according to what he has intended.” [Bukhari]
Make big intentions. Allāh ﷻ is so so merciful and even if you don’t get around to achieving all you wanted to, inshā’Allāh you’ll be rewarded.
2) Seek forgiveness from Allāh so you can start Ramadān with a purified heart.
Anas ibn Malik reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “All of the children of Adam are sinners, and the best sinners are those who repent.” [Tirmidhi]
He ﷻ is so merciful so turn to Him, don’t feel like you’ve done too much or are too far off or whatever else. There are people who have done worse and have gotten forgiven so be sincere and call out to Him.
Wake up early. Drink coffee. Work hard. Be ambitious. Keep your priorities straight, your mind right and your head up. Do well, live well and dress well. Do what you love, love what you do. It’s time to start living. With the new years coming up tomorrow, ask yourself, how many times do we make these lists of goal and habits we aspire to be consistent with, just for it to fall off within a few weeks or months?
The problem is that we try to do so much, we look at others and aspire to be where they are and try to do things which may work for their lifestyle but not necessarily work for us. But every morning we get a chance to be different. A change to change, a chance to be better. Ignore all the past new year efforts, your past is your past, leave it there. Get on with the future part. Sometimes you just need to have things be and continue and keep yourself together no matter what life hits you with.
Fall in love with the process of becoming the best version of yourself.
UTI’s (urinary tract infection’s) are such a common thing you hear about happening to people and don’t think too much about it until you get it. Once you do, then they’re the most obnoxious things ever. Thankfully due to growing up in a culture where I would wash and wipe every time I used the bathroom and a balanced diet, I never got one. Until I did. I was on a 15 hour flight and for some reason it didn’t click to me to not use the oddly foggy water coming from the bathroom sink and use a water bottle instead but I was tired, used the weird water and after using it a few times guess what I got, tan tan tannnnn, you guessed it, a UTI.
Now, how can someone even tell they have a UTI? (Yes, women as well as men both get it but its more common in females. Women have a shorter urethra than men do, which lessens the distance that bacteria needs to travel to reach the bladder.)
Thankfully, my symptoms weren’t as wild as some others (where there’s blood in the urine, pungent smell etc.) but I did have the sure tell signs:
Constantly needing to pee
When you do go to pee, it’s tiny amounts at a time
Since school started for a lot of you, I thought I would share some of my tips and tricks with you guys. We all know that teachers will give us tons of essays, stories, and just things we have to write which have to be multiple pages long and as a college student, I GET IT. Everyone has those days when they can’t think of anything else to write but for some reason, you just can’t think of any more things to write.
Rosewater has astringent properties and works well as a facial toner. But that’s not all, when it’s combined with witch hazel, rosewater acts as a great cleanser, removing oil and dirt accumulated in clogged pores and thus creating clear skin. If you want to kick it up a notch you can add in Aloe Vera which moisturizes, treats acne, and also evens out your skin tone.
Our immune system is the body’s defense against infections and diseases, if we want to stay healthy, we need to have a good immune system and we can do so by filling our body with nutrients, vitamins etc. Some people naturally have better immunity than others due to where they live, genetics, how they grew up etc but a better immunity is attainable. Acquired immunity helps your immune system get stronger and the stronger your immune system is, the less likely you are to get sick.
With COVID still going around and a lot of schools or opening up and prevention is the best cure so I’ve compiled a list of things you can start incorporating into your diet today to help boost your immunity so that your body can protect itself from harmful germs that can cause illnesses. The nutrients in these can help your immune system fight viruses and bacteria and we all need that right now (obviously practice moderation with all things even healthy things): Read More »
I’ve been insanely busy but now I’m getting some control of my time and I’m going to try to be a lot more active on here than I used to be. With quarantine, I know a lot of our eating habits have been whack, but ideally, we should try to make healthier swaps when we can and today I’m going to be showing yall how insanely easy it is to make these pita chips.
For the most basic version, all you need are 2 ingredients:
-Pita bread (Money-saving Tip- don’t be afraid to buy the older pita bread off the sale rack! Your making chips, so as long as it’s not molded, it’s fine.)
-Salt Read More »
Before any of you start reading this, I want you to go here and watch this entire Nikah series if you’re genuinely looking to get married. Trust me, a lot of us think we are but his series is so so solid.
•What is ni·kāh?
n.a Muslim wedding contract, signed by the couple in front of a group of witnesses.
Marriage (nikah) is a solemn and sacred social contract between the bride and groom. This contract is a strong covenant “mithaqun Ghalithun” as expressed in Quran 4:21). The marriage contract in Islam is not a sacrament. It is revocable, ie you can divorce!
As someone who still struggles with breaking out, I know what it’s like wanting to pick at them, and just being irritated and wishing you could rip your skin off and starting fresh. I know it’s hard and I know that sometimes it’s harder than others but remember your skin regenerates every 27 days so it’s really up to how well you take care of and manage your skin.
Some things can be out of your control but here’s what YOU can do to really help your body be it pimples on your face, body from your arms, back, butt, etc, whatever and wherever it may be:
You are what you eat.
I know people say this a lot but diet really plays a big role in your wellbeing. You might eat whatever you want and if you’re blessed with good metabolism, not have anything stick to you BUT just because you don’t gain weight doesn’t mean you should keep eating junk all the time.
Fill your body with things high in nutrients and vitamins so lots of fruits and veggies but as well as just a balanced diet in general.
Sometimes there are times when you want to give a well thought out gift but also don’t have the time or money to make something yourself or to get something personalized and that’s where generic gifts come in. If presented well, generic gifts are something everyone enjoys.
Gender neutral gifts:
Shoes: Figure out if they’re into fitness, get them gym shoes etc
Perfumes/Body Sprays: Everyone likes smelling nice. This is a bit of a sticky one because everyone has different and like different scents.
If you can get a general idea of the smells they like or their favorite perfume/s you can easily look up “Scents similar to Viva La Juicy (or their favorite)
