Peppermint Hot Cocoa

Who doesn’t love hot cocoa during the holidays? Here a fun recipe where you can indulge in some happiness while your slow cooker does most of the work for you. Makes 10 servings.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 6 cups whole milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 bag (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp peppermint extract
  • Whipped cream and/or marshmallows
  • Crushed peppermint candies

Directions:

All you do is combine cream, milk, sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips in a 5-quart slow cooker on low heat. Cook 2-3 hours, whisking every hour, until hot.

Add vanilla and peppermint extract. Serve garnished with whipped cream or marshmallows and crushed peppermint candies.

Alternative Makeup Removers

There are a lot of times when you just don’t happen to have makeup wipes on you or you come home from a party at midnight and you don’t want to wake up with three more pimples but are too tired to go out and buy some wipe etc. So here are some things you can use that will fulfill the purpose of taking off makeup:

  • Oils – These few oils are great because not only do they take off makeup, they also leave your skin moisturized after so you don’t have to take additional steps like applying moisturizer etc. Since they are oils, they dissolve waterproof makeup so you don’t have to scrub on your eyes, lashes or skin. Just pour a little bit on a cotton ball or cotton pad and wipe it off. For stubborn eye makeup, hold the cotton ball or pad, soaked in oil, over your eyes for 10-20 seconds and gently push onto your eyes and wipe it off.
    • Coconut oil (One of my favorites but don’t use if you have a lot of acne or oily skin)
    • Olive oil (Non-comedogenic and great if you have acne since it won’t clog pores)
    • Jojoba oil (Unscented oil that is very similar to the oils produced but your own skin)
    • Baby oil  (I recommend you use this if you have really delicate skin because if it’s gentle enough for babies, it’s gentle enough for you)
    • Almond oil (Pulls out dirt from your pores)
  •  Your normal cleanser – Apply a little bit to your dry skin and rub in circular motions for about a minute all around your eyes, hairline and everywhere you have makeup. Wash it off with warm water and then finish off with cold water to close your pores back.
  • Vaseline – The oil in the petroleum jelly dissolves the makeup so let it fit for a few seconds before you wipe it off (I don’t really recommend you do this on your eyes though since your eyes are way more sensitive than your face).
  • A thick  moisturizer – Slather on a lot of lotion, let it sit for a minute or two and wipe it off with a tissue or exfoliating pad.
  • Baby wipes – You’ll need more than you would if you were just using makeup wipes.
  • Your exfoliator – Don’t do this all the time because it will dry out your skin.

Gaining and maintaining muscles.

Remember this will take a lot of work and many days!
1. Eat healthy
• Eating healthy is always a good start to losing fat!

2. Eat at proper times
• Eat breakfast when you get up. Eat a small HEALTHY snack before lunch. Have a healthy lunch, eat a snack before dinner and eat a healthy dinner. But once in a while, you can have a cheat meal because just like like one healthy won’t make you unhealthy one won’t make you gain weight.

3. Diet
• If you are a junk food addict, try eating less junk food and more fruits and vegetables.

4. Exercise
• Join a gym, workout at home, work out with friends! Do something that keeps you moving! Remember to do more than one exercise a day. (Ex. Don’t do crunches and call it a day) Also don’t over exercise!

5. Stretch
•When you wake up, stretch for at least 10 minutes or so. This will help a lot!

6. Get together with your friends
• Get together with your friends and do something every week or every day after school or something.

7. Join a sport.
• Many sports help you lose fat and gain muscle.

Getting softer skin in 20 minutes.

Who doesn’t want soft skin? Here’s a quick, easy and chemical free way too touch up your skin once in a while.

What you need//

  1. Salt or sugar
  2. Water
  3. Towel
  4. Moisturizer
  5. Olive oil.

// Rub the oil onto the area of skin.
Pour a little bit of olive oil onto the area and rub it well. You can rub it by massaging in circular movements.

// Exfoliate the area with salt or sugar.
Put a generous amount of salt onto the skin area and scrub. Don’t be rough or you might hurt your skin. But don’t be afraid of scrub well. It’s important because this step removes dead skin.

//Leave it in for 10 minutes.
This step takes patience. You can scrub while you’re waiting. But be careful, because if you don’t leave it in for 1O minutes, you’re skin won’t be soft :c

// Wash the mixture off.
Preferably with lukewarm water…

Honestly, I don’t really believe in resolutions because why should we wait for a certain date to begin doing what we want? No time is better than now and why shouldn’t we make goals and start right away?

DIY: Chanel Shirts.

What you need:

  • A white or a black shirt
  • Scissors
  • Sharpie
  • Chanel logo
  • Black fabric paint (or white if you’re doing it on a black shirt) [you can even use a fabric marker]
  1. Print out the logo on paper, cut out the black part of the sign (If you have an X-Acto knife, use that) and tape it onto the middle of the shirt.


2. With a sharpie carefully line the inside of the logo. Put a book or some newspaper under the top of the shirt so the ink doesn’t bleed through.


3. With your paint carefully paint the inside of your logo and let dry.

*Pic credit here. This would make a great Christmas present, birthday gift or just a fun thing you can do with your friends during a sleepover or something.

Fruits for beautiful skin.

Not only are fruits good for your insides, they’re also good for your outsides. Here are some fruits that can make your skin AMAZING:

Apples: Apples are a great conditioner & toner for your skin, they have amazing skin-healing powers and have been used as a beauty aid for centuries.

-Add a cup of apple juice to your bath to cleanse and soften your skin.

-Apple juice, when applied to your hair scalp, can prevent dandruff. You can use it as a final rinse after shampooing your hair.

-Apples are filled with pectin – essential for fighting the dreaded acne.

-The juice of apple can be used as a breath freshener too. *not relevant but nice to know

 

Lemons: Lemons are a classic home beauty ingredient for a reason.

-Lemons are used to cleanse, lighten and freshen the skin and hair.

-Use lemon slices to soften rough skin spots such as elbows & heels.

-Lemon slices help deodorize. Mix a few teaspoons of lemon juice in your bath and you’ll feel fresh the whole day.

-Lemon juice can be added to your favorite cleanser or shampoo to refresh and tone your scalp.

-If you use it a few times a month mixed with your shampoo,  it’ll help prevent dandruff.

-Lemon grinds can be rubbed on to scars as it aids healing.

-Lemon is a natural bleach so it can help to fade out dark spots and acne scars too.

 

Bananas: they are rich in protein and natural fats so they can be used on all skin types.

-Banana is a great emollient for your skin and hair

-Make an easy facemask that will make your skin supple by applying mashed banana all over your skin and leaving it on for 20 minutes. Once you’re done, rinse off with warm water and make sure to moisturize.

-Mashed banana also makes a wonderful hair conditioner when mixed with a 1 tablespoon of honey. It’s perfect for keeping hair beautiful even if dyed regularly.

 

Pineapple: Pineapples are great skin softeners, which cleanses and rejuvenates dull and dry skin.

-Use pineapple slices on rough skin spots like knees, elbows, and heels.

-Use a slice of pineapple like you would use a sponge or loofah to scrub your body in the bath or shower.

 

Papaya: Papaya is rich in papain enzyme and Vitamin A which is the best treatment for exfoliating your skin.

-Apply mashed papaya and 3 teaspoons of aloe vera gel and massage all over your body monthly for fresh and glowing skin (leave on your skin for no more than five minutes & rinse thoroughly) [use it with caution for the first time because it may sometimes irritate sensitive skin]

 

Peaches: Peaches are highly emollient and perfect for dry skin types.

-Mash a fresh peach and combine with a tablespoon of plain yogurt to make a smooth paste, apply to your skin and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse off with warm water and your skin will feel moisturized and supple to the touch.

Pumpkin pie smoothie.

Recipe #1
Ingredients

  • 1 15-ounce can pumpkin (chilled)
  • 1 12-ounce can evaporated milk (chilled)
  • 8 ounces vanilla yogurt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Whipped cream, to taste (optional)

Directions

  1. Combine pumpkin, milk, yogurt, sugar and spice in a blender; cover.
  2. Blend until mixture is smooth.
  3. Pour into glasses; top with whipped cream (if desired) and an additional sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice. Serves four.

Recipe #2

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup canned Pumpkin Pie Filling
  • 1/4 cup Plain Yogurt
  • 1 1/2 cups crushed ice
  • 1/2 cup Soy Milk
  • 1/8 cup Applesauce
  • 1 Tbls. Sugar (I have a sweet tooth, so you may want to try a 1/2 Tbs to start out with)
  • 1/2 tsp. Pumpkin Pie Spice

Directions:

  1. Put the ice into the blender and crush.
  2. Add all other ingredients and blend together.
  3. Makes 2 large servings

Pineapple-Cherry Cobbler

This recipe is to DIE for and since it’s super easy I decided to put it up as a last minute Thanksgiving dessert recipe.

Ingredients//

  • 1 – Packaged Cake Mix, Yellow or White
  • 1 – 21 oz. can of Cherry Pie Filling
  • 1 – 20 oz. can of Crushed Pineapple
  • 1 – Stick Butter (refrigerated)
  • 1 – Cup Chopped Pecans (optional)

Directions//

  • Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan or just a regular casserole bowl with butter.
  • Spread cherry pie filling over bottom of the pan. Layer the pineapple on top of it but DON’T drain it.

  • Take the spatula or a spoon and mix the cherry pie filling and crushed pineapple together in the baking pan until they are well mixed. Made sure the mixture is evenly distributed and level in the baking pan.

Removing Nail Polish without Remover

It’s so annoying when you have chipped nail polish and you don’t have nail polish remover at home so I’m here to help. Here’re some things you can use to take off nail polish without nail polish remover:

1.Hairspray
Hairspray often contains the same kind of chemicals as nail polish remover, and this allows it to serve the same purpose as nail polish remover.
Spray some hairspray onto your nail then remove the nail polish with a tissue. Don’t use a cotton ball because the substance sticks to the nail.
2. Perfume
If you have a perfume that you don’t particularly like the smell of you can use it as a nail polish remover. Spray some onto a cotton ball and rub onto your nails. Repeat as needed.
3. Nail Polish
This might sound weird, but it works. When you apply a new coat of nail polish, the old layer softens which makes it easier to remove the nail polish. Apply a layer of nail polish then take both layers with a cotton disc by rubbing firmly over your nails.
